How about being able to simply ask the status of your own PV system? The Alexa voice service device has already moved into many living rooms. So why not take advantage of the possibilities, and "connect" the system with the PV plant. This brings PV energy a bit more into our everyday lives and makes it more present. This is exactly the goal we pursued when we programmed the "Solar-Log™ Skill".

Die neue „Solar-Log™ Skill“ ist im Alexa Skill Store von Amazon ab August 2018 verfügbar. Fragen wie: „Alexa wie geht es meiner Anlage?“ oder „Alexa wie viel Geld hat mir meine Anlage gebracht?“ werden dann je nach Wunsch in Englisch oder Deutsch beantwortet. In dieser ersten Version können Anlagenbesitzer auch fragen, wann die beste Zeit zum Staubsaugen ist. Für die darauffolgende Antwort wird natürlich nicht der Staubanteil in der Luft als Maßstab genommen, sondern der aktuell verfügbare PV-Strom und der zu erwartende PV-Überschuss in den nächsten zwei Tagen.

Of course, this new function is not a revolution in PV system monitoring. We asked ourselves the question: How do you make PV energy more tangible and thus more interesting? The solution to use a voice service for this purpose is certainly only one step to get closer to this goal. However, we are convinced that it is a step that will contribute to the popularity of PV energy. This is because one can inform oneself about the current plant status without much effort. This gives you a better and, above all, faster insight into your own energy production. This moves virtually from the roof into the living room.
